It is spread over an area of around 480 acres and is one of the largest urban parks in India. especially 104 acres of waterbody with an island in the middle.The park was inaugurated by Mamata Banerjee on 29 December 2012. The park was developed by the New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) in collaboration with the West Bengal government.
